Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King jr. was born January 15th 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. Growing up a very religious man, both his father and grandfather serving as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. While growing up he attended segregated public schools, while graduating high school at the age of 15. In the year 1954, Martin Luther king became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.

Martin Luther King strongly believed in ended segregation and working for the civil rights of his case. By the 1950s king was a member of the executive committee of the National Association for the Advancements of colors people. King attended a lot of peaceable rally’s because that is how he believed to share his message.  Although King was peaceful that does not mean he was treated this way. He was arrested, his home was bombed, and he was personally abused, but through all of this he emerged as a leader for the colored community, and a leader in the civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King like to exercise his amendment rights, because he could. He was a American citizen allowing him to use his freedom of speech, peaceful assembly and protest of the government. King had traveled over 6 million miles and spoke 2,500 times to people exercising  his rights and sharing his thoughts to end racial segregation for all people to be treated equally. He directed a peaceful march on Washington, D.C of 250,000 people. Here he would deliver his famous “I have a dream” where he moved thousands of people to help fight for this cause. Although he endured lots of pain by being assaulted 4 times and arrested 20 times, he still is an amazing example of some who actively uses their first amendment rights to fight for their freedoms.
